Ryan Reynolds continues to be the best part of the Deadpool 2 promotional campaign. He released a tweet today congratulating the Avengers on the record-breaking opening weekend of Infinity War, and included a photo of Deadpool’s rejection letter from the Avengers. Reynolds wrote, “From a guy who never knows when to quit, I’m glad you guys never did. Congrats #Avengers.”
The letter reads, “No. Absolutely not. Go bother Prof. X. No”, and is signed by Tony Stark. Reynolds also took time to crash a birthday video message that Hugh Jackman was recording, singing “Tomorrow” from Annie and dueting with Jackman on “Who Let the Dogs Out?” by the Baja Men. The actors appeared together in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and despite Jackman retiring the character in Logan, we’re still rooting for a Wolverine cameo in the Deadpool series. (via Screen Rant)
Disney has just dropped a new featurette trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story which features the director Ron Howard and the members of the cast discussing the world of the standalone prequel. “The Star Wars universe that we see in Solo was different from anything else we’ve seen in any previous Star Wars movies,” says Howard. “The Empire controls everything. Everyone is struggling to survive but we discover this incredible free spirit.”
The trailer shows a grimy, gritty underworld more reminiscent of Blade Runner and Minority Report than the picturesque vistas of the Star Wars trilogies. We see Solo riding through the streets in a cruiser, playing cards with Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) and flirting with Qi’Ra (Emilia Clarke). There’s intense scenes of battle, as well as Han and Chewie leaping onto a moving train.
Screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, says of Solo, “He’s the most excitng character in the saga for me, you don’t know what he’s going to do. He’s reckless.” Kasdan co-wrote the script with his son Jonathan Kasdan (In the Land of Women).
Solo has been rumoured to have been a tumultuous shoot, with Ron Howard coming aboard mid-shoot after co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) were dropped from the film. Despite the drama surrounding production, Howard’s enthusiasm is infectious as he talks about building in the defining moments of Han Solo’s life. “Those first encounters with Chewbacca, with the Millennium Falcon, with Lando Calrissian — they’re in this movie!” Howard says.
Check out the trailer below. Solo: A Star Wars Story opens on May 25th in theaters and will debut at the Cannes Film Festival.
Everyone knew that Avengers: Infinity War would be a blockbuster, but the crossover event has exceeded all expectations by opening to a record-setting $250 million in North America and $380 million overseas for a global total of $630 million, the top worldwide opening weekend of all time, besting the previous record holder, The Fate of the Furious, which earned $541.9 million.
Those numbers are even more impressive considering the film has yet to open in China, the largest movie market in the world, where it bows May 11th. The domestic opening beat the record held by Disney’s other juggernaut franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which earned $248 million in 2015.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War is a spectacle ten years in the making, bringing together characters and storylines from the previous eighteen films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film sees the Avengers teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop Thanos as he collects the Infinity Stones and amasses the greatest power in the universe. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Josh Brolin and many more. Infinity Wars was filmed back to back with Avengers 4, which is slated to be released in May 2019.
Infinity War is certified fresh with an 84% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 93% audience approval rating. The success of the film follows the massive critical and financial success of Marvel’s Black Panther, which opened in February and has already earned over $1 billion globally. Marvel continues to dominate the global box office, holding six spots on the top ten opening weekends of all time. Marvel has made nearly $15 billion since Disney head Bob Iger purchased it for $4 billion in 2009. Infinity War is the first film to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras, with IMAX theaters earning $41 million of the total global gross, the biggest showing ever for a Marvel title.
Twitter: it isn’t all white supremacists and harassment! Sometimes it is hilarious and reminds us of the good in the world. Case in point: Friday was Old Headshot Day, and folks took to the site in droves to post old cheesy photos from back in the day. Some of our favorite actors and personalities joined the trend, displaying their early head shots and awkward school photos. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites:
‘Amazing to catch Chester’s first roll on camera haha… must of watched it a million times… proud mummy and daddy.’
‘Look out as before long he will be rolling right across the living room,’ one fan wrote.
‘Oh he’s getting so big,’ added another.
It’s great to see the little lad looking so healthy, after battling some health struggles in the first few months of his life. Emma, 25, said her son was experiencing so much pain that he couldn’t eat – and the doctors put it down to colic.
The TV presenter has explicitly denied the claims.
Former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffat, has hit headlines again after splitting with new beau Lee Wilkins, but back in January, the rumour mill was rife with speculation about her and co-star Ant McPartlin.
In the midst of Ant’s separation from long-term love Lisa Armstrong, it was suggested the he and Scarlett were more than just friends. The pair are obviously close, but could there be more to their relationship?
For all your relationship issues, Nadia has the answers…
This week I want to talk about co-parenting after I saw Ryan Thomas have a pop at Tina O’Brien for letting their nine-year-old daughter Scarlett have her nails painted. I think it’s really important for people to abstain from venting on social media.
I’ve been dating a guy for a couple of weeks and things are going so well that we’re making plans for summer. I’m nervous because I’ve got commitment issues, how do I stay calm and not overthink it?
N: As soon as you feel yourself getting overwhelmed, stop the thoughts in their tracks and take a deep breath. There’s no need to feel scared of commitment – you’d go for a job interview without a second thought, so a relationship should feel no different.
I think I’m in love with my best friend. We’ve known each other five years, but I always had a boyfriend until recently, and we kissed. He’s told me he’s bisexual and he’s on Grindr – could it ever work out?
N: There’s no reason why not. But you need to find out if his feelings are the same as yours, then go on at least five or six proper old-school dates to help you decide if there really is something there. It’s important you don’t have sex with him until after this point, otherwise you risk losing the friendship if it doesn’t work out.
My boyfriend keeps trying to stick it in my bum during sex even though I’ve told him I don’t want him to do that. How do I get the message across that no means no?
N: You need to sit him down, away from the bedroom, in the cold light of day, when you’re both sober, and tell him you don’t like it. Explain that it’s negatively affecting your experience and hopefully then he’ll take you seriously.
If he keeps doing it, then it’s quite a serious issue that needs addressing if he doesn’t respect your boundaries.
Should you try out midnight oil?
Women need around 45 minutes of foreplay before they’re ready for the deed. If massage is your way in, use a water-based gel to keep it condom-friendly.
The Hollyoaks star tells us why he loves his unconventional family, and how he’ll be getting back with the boys in the band
It’s hard to believe he’s 40, given that he’s not changed much since he first shot to fame in 2000, aged just 22.
But, as we speak toDuncan James, he’s just returned from a cruise around the Caribbean on which he was celebrating the big birthday with his mum Fiona Inglis, 13-year-old daughter Tianie and her mum Claire Grainger.
Here, he tells us why he loves his unconventional family, and how he’ll be getting back with the boys in the band…
Hi, Duncan! How do you feel now you’re 40?
I feel fine! I know a lot of people go, ‘Oh God, I’m 40!’, but I’ve always embraced getting older. I think I look good for my age. When I tell people how old I am, they’re like, ‘No way!’ I quite like saying I’m 40 because everyone’s in disbelief.
You went on a cruise with your mum, daughter and Claire for your birthday. Why did you decide to do that rather than have a party?
I did a big party for my 30th. It was great and I loved it. But I spent the whole night not chilling out, making sure everyone was all right, sorting everything out, and making sure there were no problems. I was like, ‘I’m not going to do that again, I want to do something special.’ So I just took my three girls away.
Are the four of you close?
Yeah, of course. I’ve always been really close with Claire, and that’s one of the most important things, maintaining my relationship with her. A lot of people can’t get their head around our situation, because I guess we’re unconventional, but this world is becoming a lot more unconventional. I was raised by a single parent, so I’m not used to the conventional, typical way of life and upbringing. We make it work for us and we make it work as best we can for our daughter, because she’s a special little thing and we want to make sure we give her the best opportunity we can in life.
You’ve just finished two years of playing evil Ryan Knight on Hollyoaks. Did you feel like you had a lot to prove when you joined the soap?
No, not really. At the end of the day, I was known as a singer, so it’s nice that Hollyoaks gave me that opportunity. I found it hard at first because I probably started when I shouldn’t have done, because of my back. I’d just got out of surgery and I was on a walking stick, in so much pain, and so doped up on medication for the first couple of months of filming.
How is your back now?
It’s not great. I walk with a limp as I can’t feel my left foot or areas of my left leg. It’s completely numb. I saw a surgeon a couple of weeks ago. I had another MRI scan, and they said I may never get the feeling back, which is a bit s**t. But I could’ve been a lot worse off. I could’ve been in a wheelchair or paralysed for the rest of my life, which I wouldn’t have wanted.
What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
Tianie wants to be a classical ballerina and works really hard at it. I’m really proud of her. I always say you’ve just got to keep going, if that’s what you want to do. You’ve got to believe in yourself, believe in who you are and believe in the talent that God blessed you with. As long as you enjoy it and you’re happy, that’s the most important thing.
‘I speak to the Blue lads every day!’ Duncan James talks music, health and Hollyoaks
What does your daughter make of your fame?
It’s so funny, there was one night on the cruise, I sang My Way by Frank Sinatra on karaoke. I got a standing ovation, and everyone was whooping and cheering. The woman running the karaoke came up to me and she was so blown away by my voice, she got me a bottle of champagne and a trophy, and she was like, ‘You are the best singer I’ve ever heard on this ship!’ And then I heard everyone coming up to me and saying, ‘Oh my God, you’ve got the most beautiful voice, you should really do something with that!’ I could see Tianie’s face and she was really proud.
Is there any chance of new music with Blue?
We’re going on tour with Steps, Aqua and Saara Aalto this summer. And 2020 is our 20-year anniversary, so we’re going to do something special. We love getting in the studio and singing together.
So you’re all still really close?
Yeah, we’re super close. I never had any brothers or sisters, but they are my brothers, and we all really care about each other. We’ve got our little WhatsApp group, which we send funny things on and cuss each other about.
Will you be celebrating your birthday with the boys?
Me and Simon [Webbe] might do something together, because he turned 40 a week before me. We don’t normally do a joint birthday, but we’ve spoken about going to Ibiza with the Blue boys for a long weekend, maybe with our manager and a couple of friends and hire out a villa.
The duo are making separate plans for their son’s future…
Cheryl was in no hurry to share her happy news with the world when she fell pregnant.
And following the constant reports of cracks in her relationship with Liam Payne, Now understands she’s insisting that if they break up, then it’ll be as private as possible.
Liam spilled last month that he and Cheryl – mother to his one-year-old son Bear – have relationship ‘struggles’ like anyone else and shortly after, the pair reportedly went on a ‘make or break’ holiday to the Maldives.
But in an interview given last week, Liam seemed to contradict himself, saying: ‘I’m quite the romancer’ when it comes to cooking for Cheryl and enjoying cosy nights in front of the telly.
He revealed: ‘When I’m cooking for Chez, I don’t know why but my dinner can be just thrown on the thing, whatever, but I have to, like, cut out a little leaf and throw on a little bit of spice and I have to make her dinner really nice.’
A well-placed source tells Now that the former One Direction star and Cheryl have taken the precaution of working things out if they were ever to go their separate ways.
Our insider reveals: ‘Liam’s most important thing, alongside Bear, is his music and the quest to be bigger than 1D. He wants to be the most successful out of his bandmates.’
Any new parent knows the art of juggling work and family life isn’t easy, but with Cheryl, 34, left holding the baby while Liam, 24, jets off for promotional work and partying, you couldn’t blame her for feeling resentful.
We previously told how in their two-year relationship, Chiam had spent around six months apart – and with a child to raise now, it’s not going to be easy.
Our insider says: ‘They barely see each other and are now in the process of organising Bear’s future wealth and Cheryl’s maintenance – if they ever split.
‘They don’t want it to be public and she is furious that he constantly speaks to the press about Bear. She wants him to shut up.’
It’s no secret that Cheryl has remained tight-lipped on her son as she tries to keep him out of the limelight. Liam on the other hand has teased fans with snaps of his beloved son’s feet and hands, and spoken about him at every opportunity.
Last week, he even appeared to joke about Cheryl’s parenting skills.
Liam said: ‘[Bear]’s massive now! Where’s my baby gone? Everyone comes over and is like: “Your child is massive!” I don’t know what we feed him. I don’t know what [Cheryl’s] doing.’
It’s understood Cheryl has tried to work things out and even contemplated marriage, but with Liam’s career going from strength to strength, it looks like it’ll be a while before things settle down.
Our source adds: ‘Cheryl and Liam have agreed that if they ever split, they will lead separate lives, as long as it’s not public.
‘Cheryl doesn’t want to be haunted by the aftermath of another failed relationship and Liam wants to keep her sweet, as the last thing he needs is for her to make it difficult for him to see Bear.’
Thankfully for now, it’s only Liam’s hectic schedule stopping him seeing more of his son…
‘When I wasn’t happy with what I saw back in the mirror I spent a whole year training so hard five or six days a week, putting in a lot of work and changing the way that I eat, and there’s such a noticeable difference. I am firm and [sic] less cellulite and so much more confident. SO THANK YOU,’ Kim wrote in the touching post.
But how exactly does Kim do it? Well, former bodybuilder Melissa puts the star through her paces with a variety of low- and high-intensity interval training, body-building workouts and sprints during their sessions.
She also ensures that Kim is eating the right foods, as it’s been revealed that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is now following a version of the ketogenic diet, which involves eating fewer carbs and more healthy fats.
Melissa’s rules are clearly working as the trainer has confessed, ‘She’s eating well and she’s feeling good. I want her to eat real food that’s cooked every day. Most likely if it comes out of a box, it’s not good for you.’
Kim’s latest body confession comes a year after ‘awful’ photos of her on a beach were released. ‘I saw these awful photos when I was in Mexico and people were Photoshopping and sharpening them,’ Kim confessed. ‘I definitely wasn’t in the best shape.’
But judging by these latest bikini shots, it’s clear Kim is back to her best!
